The Army’s Army Special Friends Ops

The Army’s Army in conjunction with Fort Bragg’s Survivor Outreach Services and the American Taekwondo Association will be hosting a “Special Friends Ops” event geared toward children of fallen soldiers on Saturday, March 10. Master Michael Brown with the ATA Martial Arts of Fayetteville will instruct the group and share practical self-defense tips and techniques at this special private event for children of fallen soldiers. Attendees will also receive lunch served by Army’s Army partner and event sponsor, Fazoli’s.

Show Your Love For The Military Around Valentine’s Day At Fazoli’s

Is it possible to eat great food and show your love for those in the military at the same time? Yes, it is. Fazoli’s and the Army’s Army have teamed up again. This time you can show your appreciation for our service men and women around Valentine’s Day by dinning either in or out at Fazoli’s. On Friday, February, 17th, show you care by dinning either in or out at Fazoli’s. Fazoli’s, will donate a portion of sales to the Army’s Army. Money raised during this event will go directly towards funding the Army’s Army mission of supporting soldiers, veterans and their families.

Don’t You Want To Go To Camp Corral?

For years, Golden Corral has been supporting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization through it’s Military Appreciation Monday, an annual event that welcomes all members of the US Military (retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard, or Reserves) to enjoy a free “thank you” dinner.

Golden Corral has served over 2.8 million free thank-you meals and helped raise over $5 million for local DAV chapters since 2001.

As another way to honor those who served our country, Golden Coral has created Camp Corral, a summer camp for children of wounded or disabled military families. The mission is simple: “to provide a meaningful and exciting experience for kids whose lives have been affected by a veteran’s disability.”

Thanks to the generosity of Golden Corral’s guests, this unique, week-long camping experience is free of cost to children of wounded or disabled military families. Families pay only for transportation to and from camp.

You’re Invited To The American Taekwondo Association Tournament!

Come join us on Saturday, January 21st at the Crown Coliseum Expo Center to enjoy this year’s American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Hometown Heroes Regional Tournament.
Taekwondo is more than just physical fighting, it’s an exciting display of fast high-spinning kicks. At this event, you will get to witness highly-skilled black belts battle it out with not only their bodies, but they will bring into action some ATA Extreme Weapons.
The ATA of Fayetteville will be donating a portion of all the proceeds from this year’s ticket and t-shirt sales to the Army’s Army to help us continue our efforts in supporting soldiers, veterans and their families.
If you’re interested in attending this event, you may purchase your tickets at www.crowncoliseum.com. Admission to the tournament is $10.00, children under the age of four are admitted free.

HEROES CRUSADE: AN ATHLETE’S CAMPAIGN

The Army’s Army needs your help! We are only three weeks away from a wonderful heartfelt event that I would like to tell you more about. It is taking place right here in Fayetteville/Cumberland County.
Heroes Crusade: An Athelete’s Campaign is a special event to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, Green Beret Foundation, RDU AMBUCS and Ride 2 Recovery. The campaign consists of three events: The Heroes Crusade Golf Tournament, The Fallen Warrior Rugby Tournament, and the 5k Run/Walk/Bike.
This event is being held in conjuction with Heroes Homecoming, a 10 day welcome home for our Vietnam veterans. These events truly show our community’s military support. Thank you for everything you do. We will need lots of help from our volunteers for these events. If you can help please contact me, Janine West.

ARMY’S ARMY HAPPENINGS
ABC‘S “A BETTER COMMUNITY”

The Army’s Army would like to thank all of our partners and members for the part you played in making the Fayetteville build for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition a huge success. The episode featuring Barbara Marshall and the Jubilee House was selected as the season premiere for the show’s ninth season and aired this past Sunday, September 25. Close to a billion people tuned in to witness how an Army of citizens and businesses came together to pull off what some people might consider a miracle. But to our community, we know this is just part of “watching over those who watch over us.©”

Because of you, we are proud to announce that the Army’s Army is now featured on ABC and Extreme’s “A Better Community” website. Army’s Army partners and members donated their time, energy and resources to the build to make it possible. “A Better Community” salutes all volunteers and encourages everyone to give back. The Army’s Army is proud to join ABC and Extreme in building a better community – one family, one house, one donation at a time.

FORT BRAGG COMMUNITY INFORMATION FAIR

On September 14, the Army’s Army and the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau participated in the Fort Bragg Community Information Fair. The event, which was hosted by Army Community Services, was held at the Fort Bragg Club and was open to the entire Fort Bragg community. The event was designed to provide military families with information on key community resources, organizations, services and special events.

WELCOME HOME VETS EVENT

On September 17, the Army’s Army and other community partners came together to thank troops for their service and provide information on available resources.

The Fayetteville VA Medical Center hosted a “Welcome Home” event to celebrate the return of Operation Enduring Freedom/ Operation Iraqi Freedom/ Operation New Dawn (OEF / OIF / OND) veterans and their families. The event kicked off with an opening ceremony, followed by the presentation of colors and welcomes from medical center and community leaders. Guests enjoyed a free lunch, along with live entertainment throughout the day.

Not only did Uncle Sam himself come out to enjoy the festivities, but Senator Kay Hagan made a special appearance to show her support.

On October 21, the Army’s Army will partner with Chick-fil-A on a “Spirit Day” event. You can help with this easy fundraising event! All you need to do is visit the Chick-fil-A located at 4611 Ramsey Street for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Army’s Army will receive a portion of the sales from that day. Just make sure to tell the cashier that you’re there for Spirit Day before placing your order. All money raised will support the Army’s Army and our mission of supporting the military and their families.

Friday, December 9th through Sunday, December 11th, the Army’s Army and Fazoli’s are teaming up for a weekend of good food and fundraising.
Come to Fazoli’s, located in Fayetteville at 538 North McPherson Church Road, for lunch or dinner to benefit the the Army’s Army.

Friday:
*Fazoli’s will donate a portion of ALL procceeds to the Army’s Army.

Saturday & Sunday:

The Army’s Army, along with the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, is a sponsor at the upcoming 4th Annual Volksmarch hosted by Fort Bragg MWR. Attendees will enjoy a day of German cuisine, live entertainment, a dog costume contest, hayrides, Kidz corner, a pie eating contest, and pumpkin sales and decorating. In previous years, the attendance at this event has been upwards of 1,500 people! This is a great chance for you to get out and talk about your business and all the great things going on in Fayetteville/Cumberland County.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our community! The Army’s Army is extremely excited about this weekend because our community’s military support will be broadcast to the world. As you all know, earlier this summer Extreme Makeover: Home Edition revealed a brand new home for Navy vet Barbara Marshall and her family. Now, the rest of the country will finally get to see why Fayetteville is a model military community.We are so thankful and proud of our partners and members for joining forces for this amazing effort.
We are thrilled that Extreme has selected the Fayetteville episode to kick-off its ninth season with a two-hour season premier this Sunday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m., ET on ABC. Don’t forget to watch and see our community in action.
So many of you donated your time, energy and resources to the build and help make it possible. This Sunday you will witness how an Army of citizens and businesses came together to pull off what some people might consider a miracle.
